Born in Texas into a military family, he lived in several places, including Japan, before his father's last duty assignment in Charleston. Upon his father's retirement from the United States Air Force, his parents loved Charleston so much they decided to call it home. Mike grew up in Charleston in the West of the Ashley area and attended the public schools. Having lived and worked in Charleston for over 40 years, Mike is committed to this community.
Along with a busy work schedule, Mike is actively involved with his family. He married his high school sweetheart, Karen and they celebrated their 25th anniversary in August 2004. They have four wonderful children. Michael (24), Jennifer (21), Matthew (19) and Mark (16). They currently reside on James Island.
