Thomas is a 1952 Graduate of The Citadel with a BS degree in civil engineering. He is the father of four and and the grandfather of nine. Upon graduation he and his new wife spent the next two years in Newfoundland with the Corps of Engineers. They returned to Charleston in September 1954 and joined the family business of Read & Read Real Estate and Insurance.
Thomas specializes in residential sales and land development for homes and shopping centers.
He has served as the president of The Charleston Board REALTORS, the SC Association of REALTORS, the Charleston MLS, the Bishop Gadsden Episcopal Community for the Elderly and numerous other community organizations.
His hobbies are photography (digital and film), tennis, travel, and enjoying the wonderful sunsets of the Lowcountry.
