Below Broad Charleston is a peninsula city lying between the Ashley and Cooper Rivers. We like to say the Ashley and Cooper Rivers meet to form the Atlantic Ocean. They do meet to form our Harbor and flow to the Atlantic just past Fort Sumter and Morris and Sullivan's Islands. Cruise ships come into our Harbor as well as Container ships and some navy vessels. Many people in Charleston own their our boats for pleasure. You will see sailing yachts and cruising yachts passing through our Harbor. Also there are many small crafts. The yacht clubs here hold regattas during the summer months and there are other sailing events held here by the yacht clubs and other sailing sponsors.
